WORKSHOP INFORMATION

As the foundation of the intelligent society, social computing can make full use of the open and flowing big data resources, synthesize various elements such as coordinator, place, matter, material and organization, form the social structure of information symmetry, access equivalence and flat organization, and promote the transformation of traditional social management mode to the innovative social management mode of distributed, intensive, informationized, intellectualized and fully responsive. These spiraling trends have led to a rising prominence of social computing, social network analysis and mining methods and tools in academia, politics, security and business.

The Social Computing Workshop (SCW) provides an interdisciplinary venue that brings together researchers and practitioners from a broad variety of fields to promote collaborations and exchange of ideas and practices. SCW is intended to address important aspects with a specific focus on emerging trends and social needs. The workshop solicits empirical, experimental, methodological, and theoretical research reporting original and unpublished results on social computing along with applications.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Social Computing Workshop is a main workshop for scientists, engineers, and users to exchange and share their experiences, new ideas, and latest research results on all aspects of social computing. SCW will be held in Beijing, China, November 8, 2019. It will be held in parallel with the 19th International Conference on Data Mining (http://icdm2019.bigke.org/) in Beijing, November 8-11, 2019.

The Social Computing Workshop aims to attract researchers from all over the world working in the field of social computing, and also welcomes all researchers in the database, data mining, natural language processing, social data and web mining to utilize their expertise and match up to develop more efficient and practical algorithms or models to obtain smart knowledge from daily generated invaluable social media and web data.

Submission Information

Paper submissions should be limited to a maximum of ten (10) pages, in the IEEE 2-column format (link), including the bibliography and any possible appendices. Submissions longer than 10 pages will be rejected without review. All submissions will be triple-blind reviewed by the Program Committee on the basis of technical quality, relevance to scope of the social computing workshop, originality, significance, and clarity. Submissions of a paper should be regarded as an undertaking that, should the paper be accepted, at least one author will attend the conference to present the work. Authors should make the submissions through the Online Submission System.

By the unique ICDM tradition, all accepted workshop papers will be published informal proceedings published by the IEEE Computer Society Press indexed by EI.

  • All deadlines are at 11:59 PM Pacific Daylight Time.
  • Workshop Duration: half-day.
  • Workshop paper submissions deadline: August 7, 2019. August 16, 2019.
  • Workshop paper notification: September 4, 2019.
  • Camera-ready deadline and copyright forms: September 8, 2019.
